DENTISTRY: THE WHY AND HOW

We recommend routine oral exams to assess the health of your pets' mouth. Good dental health is as important to our pets as it is to us. 80% of dogs and cats over the age of 3 have some degree of dental disease. Imagine how much plaque and tartar you would have if you never brushed your teeth? If you do brush your pets' teeth, congratulations!! During your pets' exam we may recommend a COHAT (complete oral health assessment and treatment.) This involves anesthetizing your pet, doing a thorough oral exam, taking xrays of all the teeth, cleaning and polishing all of the healthy teeth and extracting any teeth that can't be saved. Routine dental cleanings will keep your pets' teeth healthy and prevent infection, tooth loss and possible complications in other parts of the body. You can bring your pet in any time for a dental exam to determine if a COHAT is needed.
